Becoming a Docent

Prospective Docents are required to attend a training program typically held in the first quarter of each year. The training consists of weekly sessions lasting about three hours each over a ten-week period. Attendees are also expected to shadow tours and commit time for study during the 10-week period.

Santa Barbara County Courthouse Docents:

• May give tours and/or serve in the information booth.
• Are required to give a minimum of one tour or a 3.5-hour session in the booth every month.
• Are expected to attend monthly general meetings of the Docent Council.
• Are asked to commit to serving for a minimum of two years.
• Must dress appropriately when conducting tours.
